The New Literati Press

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

Welcome to The New Literati Press submission system. Unsolicited submissions of poetry, prose, fiction and art are accepted year-round.

ABOUT US

Founded by Joschua Beres, The New Literati Press will publish the quarterly literary and art journal The New Literati beginning in January 2018 along with an annual anthology which will feature the best works from each quarterly edition along with work submitted or solicited uniquely for the anthology. The first anthology will contain many of the best works from The Literati Quarterly, the predecessor of The New Literati Press and serve as a bridge between the old publication and the new.

The Literati Quarterly was founded in 2014 and featured many notable artists, poets and writers including Alfred Corn, Anselm Berrigan, Jerome Rothenberg, T.R. Hummer, Naomi Shihab NyeCristina Bergoglio, Nick Courtright, Kathleen Pierce and many others. Beres continued to run the publication while on various military assignments with the help of Jonathan Hobratsch of The Huffington Post and noted writer Erin Pringle-Toungate. The Winter 2015 issue was the last issue of The Literati Quarterly and was dedicated to Erik Davidson, Beres' significant other who passed away in the summer of 2015.

The New Literati Press seeks out emerging poets, writers and artists as well as those established in their medium.

In addition to our quarterly and annual anthology we will also host The New Literati Chapbook Prize with the first prize of $100 and five complimentary chapbooks to be awarded in the summer of 2018.

HOW TO SUBMIT

  • Do NOT submit multiple poems separately.  Please submit all your poems together in one document.
  • Fill in the title(s) of the work(s) you are submitting. If you are submitting more than one poem, separate the titles with commas.
  • Type cover letter text into the cover letter field with a brief bio including where you are from, your education and your publication history. Please include links to your website should you have one.
  • Use the Add File button to find the file on your computer that you would like to submit. Select the file and click on the Open button. Your file will then appear in the "file" field.
  • Review your information to confirm that it is correct. Click Submit and you're done!
  • You should receive a confirmation via email letting you know that we've received your submission.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Upload only ONE submission; wait until you receive a response to your submission before uploading any more.
  • Our current response time is about three months. While we wish we could respond with personal feedback, the volume of submissions received and the small size of our staff prevent us from offering individual criticism.
  • We can only consider submissions written in the English language. We welcome translations of work into English.
  • We consider only previously unpublished work. Work that has appeared online for any reason is considered to have been previously published and should not be submitted. We alone solicit previously published work.
  • Please let us know immediately if one of the pieces you have submitted is accepted elsewhere. If your submission contains more than one poem, you will need to withdraw your submission and resubmit those poems that are still available, or you can request to edit your submission in Submittable and remove the accepted poem.
  • We reserve the right to publish your work in our magazine and on our website. We also reserve the right to publish any work from our magazine in our annual anthology The New Literati. All work selected for publication in our magazine will automatically be considered for inclusion into our anthology. However, each year we will open a special submission for those not already published in our magazine that wish to be considered for the anthology.

Thank you for your interest in The New Literati Press.

Sincerely,

Joschua Beres
